Jamaica is the perfect vacation destination for couples, families and friends. In fact, I have visited Montego Bay, Jamaica three times in the last 3 years. The first time I visited Jamaica was with my husband for our wedding anniversary. The second time was last June, with my family on a Carnival Cruise. The third and most recent time, was 3 weeks ago for a Girl’s trip. Each experience was different and I’ll share why!

Baecation

Jamaica is always a perfect option for honeymoons and baecations. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there. When booking, we wanted an all inclusive resort without kids, with top shelf liquor and a swim up pool. There were several options, with the most popular being Sandals and Secrets Wild Orchid. Since I started following The Points Guy my decision was based on my points and we chose  Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall. This resort did not disappoint. The suite was a nice size, the staff was very accommodating, the food was delicious and the views were breathtaking. This was definitely a relaxing trip for us.

Dunn’s River Falls

You cannot come to Jamaica and not see Dunn’s River Falls. Dunn’s River Falls is a water fall near Ocho Rios. Tourists climb the falls holding hands while following a tour guide. It felt like a team building exercise combined with a game of trust!

Family Cruise Destination

Montego Bay, Jamaica was one of the ports of call on our Carnival Cruise last summer. We opted for a tour…because my parents are educators. The Tour guide took us into the city and neighborhoods and also gave us a history lesson about the Rose Hall Great House and the White Witch.

Girl’s Trip

Ok so this is the trip that everybody really wants to know about! A few weeks ago, I went to Montego Bay on a Girl’s trip with 8 other women! I have to admit that this was probably one of the best trips ever! I only knew 4 of the women but after 6 days, left with 8 girlfriends!

The Villa

This was my first time ever staying in a VRBO so of course, I was skeptical…but I know my girl and she did her thang! This Villa was amazing! It was located in a gated community which was very secure. The property was staffed with a chef, housekeeper, groundskeeper, driver and bartender! All we needed to bring was the liquor! Let’s not forget about the infinity pool and private beach. We enjoyed pool days, pool nights, dancing, singing, photo shoots, Cards Against Humanity and UNO!

Jamaican Food

Our meals were prepared daily by the in house Chef.   Every pound that I gained was accounted for! One of my favorite meals was the traditional Jamaican meal: Jerk Chicken and Rice and Beans. I was also able to taste Oxtails for the first time…don’t judge me! The Jamaican patties but a smile on my face too!

Margaritaville
Yes, it’s 5:00 at Margaritaville in Montego Bay and we had to stop there! Not only were the drinks great, there was a 120 foot water slide and trampoline in the middle of the ocean.

Rick’s

We took a day trip to Negril and stopped at Rick’s Cafe, which is world famous. It’s known for cliff diving and beautiful sunsets. We didn’t get to see the sunset, but were able to witness one of our girl’s jump off a cliff! Can you guess who it was?

Jackie’s on the Reef

Now y’all know that I wasn’t going to travel and not get a spa treatment! Jackie’s on the Reef was listed as one of the “100 places every woman should go” and we went. Jackie’s is definitely the place to visit if you are looking to relax and find peace. Jackie’s sits on an old coral reef and is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. The view was simply breathtaking. I felt an overwhelming sense of calm, which is exactly what the purpose of the trip was for me. We received massages by the beach and they did not disappoint!

Reflection

Jamaica is definitely a destination of choice for all ages. As you can see, I experienced it on 3 different occasions and enjoyed each trip! I also think it’s affordable as well and Southwest has flights there. I would recommend traveling during the summer months. Although it may be hot, there would probably be less rain. With this October trip, we did have a bit of rain, but that didn’t stop the party!
