Welcome to Volume 2! I know that you had a great weekend in NOLA! The weather on yesterday was gorgeous! If you listened to my IGTV then you already know that I missed the French Quarter Festival…so it’s not on my recap! From the looks of my feed, my Bous got it in for me!

Bike to Work Day

I participated in Bike to Work Day sponsored by Entergy and Bike Easy on Tuesday. We rode bikes to Duncan Plaza for free breakfast food and coffee and heard from local advocates about the growing bike culture in New Orleans. This was my first time riding a Blue Bike! I planned on wearing my Jimmy Choo stilettos but opted for my Balenciaga tennis for safety! There are several biking events planned this year so stay tuned!

Dress for Success

On Thursday evening I attended the Women in Business Shopping event at Lukka benefitting Dress for Success. 20% of sales were donated. Ladies enjoyed cocktails, tasting menu from Otra Vez and viewed artwork on display from resident artist, Kate Tova.

Donations are accepted every Friday from 11am-2pm, and one Saturday each month from 11am-2pm, at 1700 Josephine Street, entrance through the parking lot. Please note that there is no Donation Day on Friday, April 19. They are in great need of professional shoes (all sizes), small (size 0-2) and plus size (size 22 and up) professional clothing.

Please also consider supporting the 10th annual Suits and Salads luncheon on May 10th.

Bougie Book Club: April

Did you know about the Bougie Book Club? We have selected our April Book, Queenie.

Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London, straddling two cultures and slotting neatly into neither. She works at a national newspaper, where she’s constantly forced to compare herself to her white middle class peers. After a messy break up from her long-term white boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places…including several hazardous men who do a good job of occupying brain space and a bad job of affirming self-worth.

As Queenie careens from one questionable decision to another, she finds herself wondering, “What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Who do you want to be?”—all of the questions today’s woman must face in a world trying to answer them for her.

This is a good one y’all!

SELFISH: 24K Gold Mask

I treated myself to an at home 24K gold mask! My son said that I looked like a Genie! I read that the gold is supposed to be firming and anti-aging while leaving behind a “glow.” It was a pretty gold mask, but I didn’t really notice much of a difference after wearing for 20 minutes. I’m not too disappointed, it was $2 at TJ Maxx. By the way, that’s a great place to be SELFISH!

Bougie Foodie: Lemonshark

I tried Poke for the first time at Lemonshark. If you didn’t already know, Poke is diced raw fish. I have never been a sushi fan, so this took me a while to try. I don’t even eat raw oysters. I ordered Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon with greens and brown rice. For my toppings, I chose pickled cabbage, cucumber, avocado, mango, edamame, and ponzu sauce. Bous, this was GOOD!  I felt so healthy eating it! LOL! I’ll be back! Do you like Poke?

Bougie Buy: LUSH

Anyone who really knows me will say that I have an obsession with bath products! I stopped by LUSH on Magazine St. to check out the Easter goodies! Last year I bought the Golden Egg and it’s back! Don’t worry it won’t stain your bathtub or leave a mess! I tested it last year and made a video! I’ll share it this week! There are also a few limited edition items! I had to purchase the Royalty bath bomb, because DUH.

I also couldn’t resist this one! It’s Bunny Buttercheeks!

What I fun week! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! If you know of something or some place that I should check out please let me know! I’m still testing out my weighted blanket!
